Tapi Carpets & Floors

Very poor knowledge of how to lay floors. Booked in a Home consultation, They called to check a couple of days before they arrived and get some more information. I told them what I was looking for- Hardwood flooring- and that I had stripped back my current floors to the boards, I also told them that about there was a drop of about a centimetre in the corner of one of my rooms starting about 30 cm away, Which created a very slight Gradient And asked them if they could fix that Or whether They don’t do levelling and they would just have to lay the floor as it currently is which I would also be happy with. They told me that because the floor wasn’t flat and it needs to be a smooth even surface that they wouldn’t be able to lay the floor unless it was. I was sure that they misunderstood me, So I alliterated again that my floors were in good state and smooth, but due to the age of the building There has been some slight movement and A gradient had begun about 30 cm away from One of the corners. Once again, he told me that based on this they wouldn’t be able to do the work as the boards wouldn’t bend. I said, that’s strange they Wouldn’t be able to do the work at all because my current floor is obviously boarded (suspended floor) and boards are over three times thicker than the hardwood they would be installing and they have managed to bend, On top of that, The last Flooring that was down on the floor was hardwood That I had installed myself! I told them I didn’t believe they had Good enough knowledge to be in the Flooring industry If they believe hardwood flooring can’t be fitted to a House with minimal movement. The only reason I couldn’t relay my new floor is because I’ve recently had my arm amputated. After this, I immediately called my Builder who has done work on my properties for over 10 years, He came round to have a look. He told me that Laying on the floor without fixing the gradient would be without issue or he could easily fix it with a bit of ply As it was very minimal. I would have usually gone to my Builder straightaway, but Spreading the cost With interest free credit with tapi Would have been ideal, But after sitting down with my Builder, it came to light That for the product alone My Builder could supply for half the price, And fitting would be only £350, keeping in mind my room is huge 4 m x 5m And having a bay window, I couldn’t imagine how much tapi would charge me! But it Wouldn’t have been anywhere near £350!

Do not use, especially for stair runners. Awful experience and a lot of money spent with only very minimal compensation for a bad quality finish and damaged furniture.

Avoid unless you want to be treated like you just spat in their face. Nipped in to get a quote for carpet after finally being able to speak to someone, they didn't even take us over to a desk or ask for any details. Just stood next to some random samples (not even ones we were looking at). She didn't once ask a single question, not do you need new grips, underlay anything like that. Just stood there while she hit numbers on her calculator and wrote random stuff on a pad, then turned and gave us a quote. No idea what the cost breakdown was, not a single question about the carpet being installed or where or what is currently in the room. Just straight up rude, simple as that. After being treated like that we walked out and went elsewhere. Good job we did because we ended up getting a better (and more expensive) carpet installed at over £120 cheaper than Tapi quoted. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your time go elsewhere.

Absolutely amazing service from the team!!! We can't wait to get our stair runners laid down. Excellent experience. As if Jan'26 - I've added more content to installation to Trust Pilot. Pasting it here: We first purchased the stairway carpets and side-ribbon edges in Aug 2025. The stairway carpets looks absolutely great!!! The issue was with installation. To make a long story short, if it wasn't for father and son - Ian and Morely, I wouldn't be as happy as I am. It was definitely a team effort to ensure the installation was done correctly. We're just so impressed with their work! 5*+++ to Ian and Morley!

Excellent service from Ady and team at Tapi Derby. Bedroom carpet beautifully fitted. Fitters cleaned up afterwards, hoovered and took all the rubbish.

A really bad experience. The estimater measured he was here 7 minutes. Very very rushed. My wife had gone into the Derby store so I didn't know what carpet she had chosen. The estimater brought in the sample I knew it wasn't the carpet chosen. He said he would email the quote, that was very expensive. No quote has been received. My wife arrived home just as he was leaving & he said he had just finished. And went. He did ask me if the price was ok & I said we would go into the store. If we had gone into the store it would have been to complain about our experience. We have now booked a carpet fitting with another local company. Same quality carpet & underlay as Tapi but nearly half the price with a far better quality of service.

Super experience in store today with Paddy in Derby. What an exceptional level of knowledge he has, and his attention to detail was second to none. Due to that experience, order placed for new bedroom, landing and stairs. 10/10.
