Floor sanding & restoration · Southampton

How much does Floor sanding & restoration cost in Southampton? (2026 price guide)

Sanding and refinishing an average-sized room's floorboards typically costs £15-£30 per square metre, with a whole-house job usually running £800-£2,000 depending on floor condition and total area. Staining or applying a coloured finish generally adds £5-£10 per square metre on top of a standard clear seal, and gap-filling on badly worn boards can add further cost.

Prices depend mainly on the condition of the existing floor, since boards with deep staining, woodworm damage or wide gaps need more preparation, the total area being sanded, the type of finish applied such as oil, lacquer or wax, and how many coats are required for durability. Commercial-grade dustless sanding equipment can command a slight premium.

Asking whether gap-filling and skirting board touch-ups are included in the quoted price helps avoid extra charges once work is underway.
